Web and Social Media

Web

At the beginning of the school year, The Oracle editorial board met with SNO Sites to learn the different story forms and additions available on SNO. From then on, especially in Features, I've encouraged and taught students to diversify their feature creations including incorporating infoboxes, embedding Spotify playlists and using immersive photos when applicable to allow multiple points of interaction for the user to engage with the article.

However, at times Wordpress can be limited. I wanted to attempt new forms of structuring stories' design and layout. Thus, while working on my food stipends story, I attempted using Google Sites to create a new reading experience for a rich article incorporating multiple multimedia elements

Social Media

As a show last school year, I started a new program to get more people around campus familiar and involved on The Oracle. Question of the Week serves as a fun program that's meant to take place every week to highlight different students around campus as they answer a random, silly question. Since our school has middle and upper school students, this program is meant to incorporate them all. This show was the launching point for new content on our Instagram and TikTok to feature all students in our community.

I also wanted to highlight editors during Scholastic Press Freedom Week and ask about what their role is all about. Each member of the edtorial board got their own video to highlight their position and its importance to the rest of the staff.
